Robert D. Deitch, Jr., M.D. graduated with High Distinction from Indiana University in 1980.  In 1984, he graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine.  After serving his internship at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis and his residency at the Indiana University School of Medicine, he completed a fellowship in Corneal and External Ocular Disease at Indiana University and post-graduate fellowship training in refractive surgery (LASIK) at two sites for the FDA Excimer Laser Trails:  Louisiana State University and The University of Minnesota.

In the early 1990’s, Dr. Deitch was part-time Chief of Ophthalmology at the Indianapolis Veteran’s Administration Hospital and the principal investigator for the multi-center VA study of “Comparison of Anterior and Posterior Chamber Lens Implants After Vitreous Loss in Attempted Extracapsular Cataract Extraction”.  Dr. Deitch has authored several articles and given hundreds of lectures on his specialty, Corneal and External Ocular Disease. 

Dr. Robert Deitch was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Indiana University School of Medicine from 1989 – 1995 where he taught surgical and medical management of corneal diseases and was honored as “Ophthalmology Professor of the Year” in 1995.

Dr. Deitch has also been honored as one of the "Best Doctors in America", and has been selected by Indiana physicians as "Best Cornea Physician" in an annual Best Doctors survey published by Indianapolis Monthly magazine.

Dr. Deitch is currently serving on the Cyber-Sight Advisory Board for ORBIS International. Dr. Deitch uses leading-edge telemedicine via the internet to share his expertise and to provide professional mentoring and patient care consultation to doctors throughout the world. He is an active member of many prominent ophthalmology organizations.
