Steve R. Klapper, M.D., F.A.C.S

Stephen R. Klapper, M.D., F.A.C.S. graduated with highest distinction from Indiana University in 1988. In 1992, he graduated with honors from the Indiana University School of Medicine. After serving his internship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, and his residency at the Baylor School of Medicine in Houston, Texas, he completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orbital and Oncology Surgery, and Lacrimal Surgery at the University of Ottawa Eye Institute in Ontario, Canada. He currently practices in Indianapolis and Carmel, IN specializing in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Klapper is very active in ophthalmic research authoring over 20 peer-reviewed publications and a dozen book chapters on eyelid reconstruction, cosmetic blepharoplasty, anophthalmic surgery, and other surgical techniques in the field of oculofacial surgery. He has also given over 30 local, national, and international presentations and lectures on a variety of oculoplastic topics.  Dr. Klapper serves as a scientific reviewer for Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and EYE.  Dr. Klapper is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Canadian Society of Oculoplastic Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Klapper is a member of the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Medical Society.

Currently, Dr. Klapper volunteers as a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology for the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has also been a Clinical Instructor for Fort Wayne Medical Education Program and the Baylor School of Medicine.
